The Top Places to Buy the Best Souvenirs and Pasalubong in Bacolod

My post about the “Top Places to Buy Cheap Souvenirs and Pasalubong in Kuala Lumpur” is surprisingly one of my top blog posts giving me good traffic and views daily so I was inspired to do another souvenirs and pasalubong posts and this time from my recent travel destination – Bacolod.

Bacolod is a very interesting travel destination. Aside from the numerous attractions and foodie destinations, Bacolod has so much to offer when it comes to yummy delicacies and unique souvenir items.

If you are the type of traveler who buys a lot of stuff to bring home for friends, coworkers and loved ones or someone who buys something for your souvenir collection, here are the best places to get them.

1. Merzci Pasalubong

Merzci is one of Bacolod’s leading pasalubong center. Among their best sellers are Napoleones, Butterscotch, tarts, different varieties of Barquillos and much more. They have many branches all over Bacolod so it is very easy to find one. And if you happen to stay at The Suites at Calle Nueva, a hotel with a very good location in the city proper, there’s a nearby Merzci branch which is about 5 minutes walk from the hotel.

Napoleones (Php 135) ; Butter Scotch (Php 52) ; Cheese Tarts (Php 43) ; Mango Tarts (Php 44)

2. BongBong’s

With a wide array of yummy delicacies and sweet treats, another great place to buy pasalubong in Bacolod is Bong Bong’s. They have a branch near SM Bacolod and Manokan Country. Bong Bong’s is  well known for their Piaya, Napoleones, Barquillos, and tarts. Souvenir items such as T-shirts, key chains, and ref magnets are also available.

Pineapple Tart (Php 48) ; Barquillos Mango Flavor (Php 37)
Butong-burong Unat Big (Php 40) ; Bayi- bayi (glutinous rice) Big (Php 25)

Both Merzci and Bong Bong’s are the top players in the pasalubong industry of Bacolod (think Mcdo and Jollibee). It is said that in every Merzci branch, there is a Bong Bong’s branch near it. Both pasalubong centers offer yummy delicacies with reasonable prices. To compare prices and taste, we bought the same items from the two pasalubong centers. And then after deciding which one is better, we came back to the pasalubong shops before our flight back to Manila to buy more of what we like most.

Personal faves are Napoleones (Bong Bong’s), cheese tarts (Merzci), mango tarts/pastillas de manga, and butter scotch (Merzci). But if I were to choose one, I will choose the Pastillas de Mangga of Bong Bong’s. My friends also commented how good the Mango Tarts were and made me wished I should have bought more than what I took home.

3. Jojo Vito Designs Gallery

Jojo Vito Designs Gallery is not only a gallery full of colorful and intricate works of art, it is also one of the best places to buy unique souvenirs and gift items. The souvenir items such as ref magnets, key chains, and masks are very colorful and vibrant giving you a taste of the MassKara Celebration. Items are well crafted and beautifully done with a high level of creativity. These MassKara-inspired items are a must-buy from Bacolod.

4.OISCA

OISCA in Bago City is a sericulture facility (I will make a separate blog post about our experience in OISCA.) They have a showroom where you can buy key chains from silkworm cocoons, mulberry tea, keychains from cocoons, silk products and much more. Post cards are also available for only Php 10.

You can also drop by at The Negros Showroom located in Level 1 Robinsons Place. The Negros Showroom showcases Negros products which you can take home as gifts, pasalubong, and souvenirs.

Visit any of them or better yet include all of these places in your itinerary and buy beautiful and unique souvenirs and hoard sweet delicacies to take home with you.

Happy travels!
